Hancock, Maryland desk with label of W. W. Jenkins and history handwritten in interior drawers. Mahogany veneered on white pine; two of the small interior drawers with extensive grain; these drawer bottoms may be yellow pine. Interior drawers have tiger maple veneer. Brasses appear to be period to the piece.

The desk has a mechanical drawer device that allows the top drawer to fold out. The prospect door has a paper label on the back of it that reads as follows:
W W Jenkins 1840 Cabinet and Chair Maker Coffins also of the best style Furnished on short notice Hancock, Md.
There are some slight abrasions around the drawer openings but generally the desk is in excellent condition with no replacements that I can detect.
